Scientists at Princeton University have discovered that sexual activity can help the brain to grow, according to research done on rats. Virgin rats were also shown to be more anxious generally than those which were sexually active.

Some male rats were given access to sexually receptive females daily for two weeks and a second group were allowed to mate just the once in the same period. Scientists were then able to study the affects the activity had on the brain.

Compared with virgins, both groups had a larger number of neurons in the hippocampus. Sexually active rats also had a rise in the connections of brain cells and grew more adult brain cells.

Kings of Leon have come under fire for cancelling a concert in St. Louis after performing just three songs. The band state they were forced to cancel because pigeons in the rafters of the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater pooed on the band.

Publicist Any Mendelsohn said: "Jared was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn´t deal any longer."

She added that "It´s not only disgusting - it´s a toxic hazard." The band tweeted their apology. "So sorry St Louis. We had to bail, pigeons s***ing in Jared´s mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue." The tour continues to Ohio, then overseas.

Florida: Police in Palm Bay have arrested a 14-year-old and charged him with hate crime enhanced misdemeanor battery after he allegedly attacked a 22-year-old white male. The enhancement may upgrade the misdemeanor charge to a felony.

The 14-year-old allegedly told his victim that he should turn his music off because "white people shouldn´t listen to rap music". When the man replied that he could listen to whatever music he wanted the teen attacked him.

Police arrested the teen after the victim filed a report. He is currently being held in a juvenile detention centre.

49-year-old Jamie Hicks has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after her 12-year-old daughter called 911 from the car they were driving in down a New York state highway.

The mother´s blood-alcohol level was at .18%, double that of the state´s legal limit. Her 10-year-old son was also present in the car. State police praised her daughter´s actions, saying, "This young girl made a very brave decision."
