Be excited, but be scared. A world of mind-blowing possibilities is suddenly being thrust upon the world of video gaming. Designed like headgear, the EPOC contains multiple sensors to measure electrical activity in the brain.
The era of thought controlled games has arrived, and soon you could be required only to 'think' to operate a video game. Maybe you'll even have the chance to be completely immersed in a video game 'world'.
The Emotiv EPOC headset - the first Brain Computer Interface (BCI) device for the gaming market is the technology behind the revolution -- and the company claims to have already mastered thought control.
The EPOC detects and processes real time brain activity patterns (small voltage changes in the brain caused by the firing of neurons) using a device that measures electric activity in the brain.
In total, it picks up over 30 different expressions, emotions and actions.
The leap in technology has been met with excitement amongst many gamers. Singapore enthusiast Samuel Lau has even made a video showing his hopes for the future of gaming.
HL2: INSURGENCY has been out for over a year and has been active since day 1 with a growing number of players. There is a small group of SCE members wanting to play and recruit around this game so you may see posts going around as we bing it back as a division and see where it takes those players. Over the next few months if there is no growth we may place it back in the games sections, but for now INS is open for business.
The game's annimation/movement is comparable to Half Life 2, Counterstrike Source since it is a mod around the Steam Engine. The gamelpay takes you into gametypes where you have to push the enemy back in a linear style of game (i.e. Take Alpha, then Bravo, then Charlie, then Delta to win), or you can enjoy the other similar styles such as team deathmatch or other non linear styles. You can hear footsteps and taunts, it has in game VOIP for in game communication, and more. Also Steam has it's own anti-cheat which is a very useful tool banning people from all Steam games if a player is caught.
It's free and optional so there's no risk involved with getting this game ready to play.
